* LEED-NC v2009

Materials & Resources (MR)

Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)

MR 4 (Recycled Content)

How the Credit Works:

To achieve a point under MR 4.1, the LEED project must use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (based on cost) of the total value of materials in the project. To achieve an additional point under MR 4.2, the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content must constitute at least 20% of total materials costs.

How Nydree Flooring Qualifies:

Nydree Flooring’s Reclaimed products are made up of 28% post-consumer content (the reclaimed wood face veneer)

MR 5 (Regional Materials)

How the Credit Works:

To achieve a point under MR 5.1, the LEED project must use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (based on cost) of the total materials value. To achieve an additional point under MR 5.2, regional materials must exceed 20% of the total materials value.

If only a fraction of a product or material is extracted/harvested/recovered and manufactured locally, then only that percentage (by weight) contributes to the regional value.

How Nydree Flooring Qualifies:

Nydree Flooring’s manufacturing facility is located in Karthaus, Pennsylvania in the west-central portion of the state and in proximity to one of the most populous regions of the United States. Certain wear layer species, constituting approximately 28% of our engineered flooring by volume, can be harvested within 500 miles of our facility and hence can qualify for this credit.

MR 7 (Certified Wood)

To achieve a point under MR 7, the LEED project must use a minimum of 50% of wood-based materials and products which are certified in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), for wood building components. These components include, but are not limited to, structural framing and general dimensional framing, flooring, sub-flooring, wood doors, and finishes.

FSC products that are invoiced to project contractors and sub-contractors as “FSC Pure” or “FSC Mixed Credit” contribute 100% of their dollar value toward achieving the 50% threshold. Products that are invoiced as “FSC Mixed [XX]%” contribute [XX]% of their dollar value.

How Nydree Flooring Qualifies:

Nydree Flooring is proud that the majority of our products are available as FSC-Certified.  The FSC claim for our flooring is FSC Mixed 72%.

How Nydree Flooring Qualifies:

Nydree UP-28-0VOC, the recommended adhesive for all Nydree Flooring products, contains 0 VOC’s

IEQ 4.3 (Low Emitting Materials: Flooring Systems)

To achieve a point under IEQ 4.3, among other requirements, all hard surface flooring (including wood flooring) must be certified as compliant with the FloorScore standard by an independent third party.

How Nydree Flooring Qualifies:

Nydree Flooring is FloorScore certified

IEQ 4.4 (Low Emitting Materials: Composite Wood and Agrifiber Products)
